Tunnel Diggers Rendezvous: Speed & Distance

The Mission: 

Two miners are digging in a tunnel! Depending on the scenario, they will either dig towards each other until they Meet, or dig Apart from the same starting point. Your mission is to understand how their combined speeds affect the time it takes to reach the target distance.


Math Skills:

  • Speed, Distance, Time: Understanding the relationship equation: Time=Distance÷Speed.

  • Relative Speed: Adding two speeds together when objects are moving in opposite directions (SumofSpeeds=SpeedA+SpeedB).

  • Word Problems: Translating a real-world scenario into a mathematical formula.


How to Play:

  1. Read the Scenario: Look at the top label to see if the miners will start from opposite ends and meet, or start back-to-back and move apart.

  2. Play by Second: Click the Play 1 Second button to manually advance the time. Watch the miners dig and see the remaining distance shrink!

  3. Learn the Formula: Keep clicking until the task is complete. A Summary Box will pop up explaining the mathematical equation (Time=Distance÷SumofSpeeds).

  4. Restart or Next: Click Restart Round if you want to watch the animation again, or click the Next Questionbutton for a brand new scenario!

任務簡介: 

兩名礦工正在地道裡挖掘！根據不同題型，他們會相向而行直到 相遇，或是從同地出發 背向而行。你的任務是理解他們的「共同速率」如何影響到達目標距離所需的時間。


數學技能:

  • 速率、距離、時間: 理解三者的方程式關係：時間=距離÷速率。

  • 相對速率: 當兩個物體反向移動時，將它們的速率相加 (速度和=速度A+速度B)。

  • 應用題解析: 將現實生活中的情境轉換為數學算式。


玩法說明:

  1. 閱讀情境: 查看頂部的標籤，了解礦工是從兩端出發相向而行，還是背對背向外挖。

  2. 按秒播放: 點擊 「播放 1 秒」(Play 1 Second) 按鈕手動推進時間。觀察礦工挖掘的過程，並看著剩餘距離逐漸減少！

  3. 學習公式: 不斷點擊直到任務完成。畫面上會彈出一個總結視窗，解釋這背後的數學算式 (時間=距離÷速度和)。

  4. 重置或下一題: 如果想再看一次動畫，可以點擊 「重新開始」(Restart Round)，或點擊 「下一題」(Next Question) 按鈕挑戰新情境！
