Function Machine Factory
The Mission:
Operate a two-step function machine! First, verify how the machine processes an input forwards, and then work backwards to find the secret original input.
Math Skills:
Two-Step Equations: Understanding how multiple operations chain together to produce a final output.
Inverse Operations: Reversing the machine by using opposite operators (e.g., changing + to -, or × to ÷).
How to Play:
Read the target equation at the top. Fill in the operator dropdowns and value inputs to match the forward equation exactly.
Click the Check Forward Machine button.
The machine will reverse! Fill in the bottom boxes with the inverse operations and values to work backwards from the final output.
Click the Solve & Reverse! button to send the numbers back through the machine and unlock the system!
