The Marching Band Formation: Master of Factors

• The Mission: 

  The Grand Parade is about to begin, but the soldiers are disorganized! You are the Band Leader. Your mission is to arrange a specific number of soldiers into perfectly rectangular formations. To clear the level, you cannot just find one arrangement; you must discover every possible way to organize that number (e.g., for 12 soldiers: 1x12, 2x6, and 3x4).

  
  

• Math Skills:

  • Factors & Multiples: Identifying all pairs of numbers that multiply to reach a target.

  • Arrays: Visualizing multiplication as rows and columns.

  • Area: Understanding that rectangles with different shapes can have the same total area.

    
    

• How to Play:

  1. Check the Number: Look at the top of the screen to see the Target Number of soldiers (e.g., "12 Soldiers").

  2. Drag the Handle: Click and hold the circular handle on the grass field.

  3. Shape the Array: Pull the handle right and down to change the number of Rows and Columns. Watch the counter to see the total (e.g., 2×6=12).

  4. Form the Troop: When the number matches the target, release the mouse or click the button to lock in that formation.

  5. Find All Pairs: Don't stop at one! You must find all remaining factor pairs to complete the level.
