The Binary Lightbulbs

The Mission: 

Turn on the correct combination of magical lightbulbs so their values add up perfectly to the Target Number. This glowing puzzle teaches you exactly how computers count using Binary Code!


Math Skills:

  • Binary System: Understanding base-2 place values (128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1).

  • Mental Math: Rapidly adding numbers in your head to reach a specific sum.

  • Logical Deduction: Figuring out which large numbers fit into the target without going over.


How to Play:

  1. Check the Target: Look at the Target Number block at the top of the screen.

  2. Toggle the Bulbs: Click the lightbulbs in the bottom row to turn them on. Each glowing bulb adds a specific value to your Current Sum box.

  3. Match to Win: Switch the bulbs on and off until your current sum matches the target exactly.

  4. Learn the Code: When you win, the game will reveal the final binary equation (e.g., 10 = 1010)! Click the Next Question button to advance to a harder Level.
