The Number Shredder: Divisibility Rules of 3 and 9

The Mission: 

Your job is to check if a randomly generated number can be perfectly divided by 3 or 9. You will use the special "sum of digits" rule to decide if the number goes into the shredder or gets rejected!


Math Skills:

  • Divisibility Rules: Learning that a number is divisible by 3 (or 9) if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3 (or 9).

  • Addition: Quickly adding multiple single digits together.

  • Mental Math: Dividing the final sum mentally to check for remainders. 


How to Play:

  1. Tap the Digits: Look at the large number block on the slab. Tap each individual digit to add them together.

  2. Calculate the Sum: Watch the equation build at the bottom. Once all digits are tapped, the game will show you the Total Sum.

  3. Make your Choice: Look at the Shredder's label (e.g., ÷ 3). Decide if the total sum can be divided by that number. Click ✔ Divisible or ✖ Not Divisible.

  4. Shred It!: If you are correct and it is divisible, the shredder unlocks and destroys the number! Click the Next Number button to play again.
