The Mission: 

Find the mass of an unknown item by using two balance scales! You must substitute known items with their gram weights to solve the mystery.


Math Skills:

  • Algebraic Substitution: Replacing a variable (a known item) with its numeric value to simplify an equation.

  • Balancing Equations: Understanding that both sides of a level scale are perfectly equal in weight.


How to Play:

  1. Observe the top scale to learn the exact weight of the first item.

  2. On the bottom scale, click the known item to substitute it directly into its gram weight, as suggested by the glowing Hint bulb!

  3. Calculate the weight of the remaining unknown item.

  4. Type your answer in grams into the input box and click the Check button.
